Biography

Mamta Tiwari heads the international arbitration and disputes resolution practice of the firm. She has over 25 Years of experience and her core area of practice is arbitration and commercial litigation including large-scale litigation and arbitration, with particular emphasis on multi-jurisdictional disputes. She has advised and represented the Government of India (GoI) in some of the landmark arbitration matters including the biggest ever arbitration claim under UNCITRAL Rules against GoI in relation to Dabhol Power Project amounting to 6.5 billion dollars and in relation to arbitration proceedings initiated by Overseas Promotions Investment Corporations, US as the Political Risk Insurer and a Lender to the Dabhol Power Project. She has also successfully represented Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in the first ever International arbitration initiated by an Indian Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). She is a Panel Member of Arbitrators of Construction Industry Arbitration Association (CIAA) and FICCI Arbitration & Conciliation Tribunal (FACT). She regularly appears before the Supreme Court of India for clients across various sectors and industries including telecom, pharmaceuticals, financial institutions and banks as well as real estate and construction companies.
